The Malaysia Australia Business Council (MABC) congratulates Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim on his first anniversary in office. His initiatives, including the establishment of the Madani Unity Government, have significantly strengthened Malaysia's unity and laid the foundation for future inclusive economic development.
MABC recognises the efforts of Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim in boosting foreign direct investment (FDI) in Malaysia, fostering economic growth, and strengthening the enduring partnership with Australia. Notably, key engagements with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese have continued to advance economic collaboration between Malaysia and Australia, as seen in events like APEC 2023 and the 43rd ASEAN Summit.
We have come far since signing the Malaysia-Australia Free Trade Agreement (MAFTA) on 1 January 2013. The Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two nations extends across key sectors such as agriculture, resources, education, and the digital economy. As of 2022, Australian investment in Malaysia totaled A$10.1 billion, while Malaysian investment in Australia reached A$19.8 billion, underscoring the robust economic relationship between the two countries.
In conclusion, MABC looks forward to continuing its role as a bridge for businesses, facilitating dialogue and collaboration between Malaysia and Australia under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
