by Malaysian Furniture Promotion Council

A look at the furniture industry of Malaysia and where it stands in the global arena; the challenges to be faced; the plans Malaysian Furniture Promotion Council (MFPC) is implementing in getting the industry to be more dynamic and different; the identity of Malaysian furniture. MFPC will also discuss the idea of having more design-based furniture from Malaysia with partnership from countries like Australia, Italy and Germany.
PUAN SARIMAH, CEO of the Malaysian Furniture Promotion Council, has vast experience in the Furniture Industry. She started her involvement in the industry when she was first appointed as the CEO for MARA’s Furniture Industry Technology Center (FITEC) which took her on an in-depth understanding of the Bumiputera’s furniture industry. Her passion for the industry became more apparent when she was recently invited to Sarawak to explore the globalisation of the state’s furniture industry. With Puan Sarimah at the helm, MFPC is now embarking on a more vigorous effort in making DESIGN as the first and foremost identity of the Malaysian furniture.
